Edward M Kennedy will live in our hearts forever

Friday, 28 August 2009

We've lost the irreplaceable center and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever. His death marked the twilight of a political dynasty. The US senator Edward M Kennedy took a bold stance against the genocide committed by Pakistan during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971, despite the US government's opposition to Bangladesh's struggle for independence.
Edward Kennedy will be mourned not just in America, but in every continent. He is admired around the world as the senator of senators. He led the world in championing children's education and health care, and believed that every child should have the chance to realise their potential to the full. Even facing illness and death, he never stopped fighting for the causes which were his life's work.
In life, Edward Kennedy epitomised, for all his flaws, the values that underpinned life. In death, he becomes a hearkening back to an era that was as substantive in meaning as it was vibrant in an expression of its demands.
