Effective value chain can ensure fair price of local products: Speakers

RANGPUR, May 20 (BSS): Effective value chain system can ensure fair price of the locally produced dairy and handicraft products through linking the producers and traders under one umbrella minimising middlemen interference in the process.
Speakers said this at the inaugural ceremony of a three-day training course on 'Value Chain Management Training for Producer Group' organised by World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) at its Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP) in Fulbari town of Dinajpur on Monday.
The course is being organised for providing knowledge and concept of the value chain approach to the producers in indentifying the issues to create the realistic scopes for accelerating socioeconomic development of the local small-scale entrepreneurs.
Rangpur Divisional Economic Coordinator of WVB Ashraful Islam addressed the ceremony as the chief guest with Programme Manager of Fulbari ADP of the NGO Pabitra B Costa in the chair.
Agriculture Officer of Fulbari ADP of WVB Arbindu Roy and its Programme Officers Pallobi Murmu and Badal Nongmin addressed as the special guests.
Twenty local small-scale entrepreneurs and volunteers of different areas under Fulbari upazila in Dinajpur have been taking part in the training course to be ended on Wednesday.
The speakers said an effective value chain system could benefit the consumers, producers as well and traders involved with the whole process of producing and marketing local products like milk, handicrafts and handloom goods like 'nakshi kantha'.
