Effective value chain for raising milk production stressed

RANGPUR, Jan 15 (BSS): Speakers at a training course have stressed for developing better relation and communication among milk producers, fodder sellers, milk collectors and vaccinators to flourish an effective value chain system for increasing milk production.
An effective value chain system through linking milk producers and concerned traders under one umbrella would minimise interference of the middlemen in marketing of the locally produced more hygienic milk bringing benefits to all concerned, they said.
Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP) of World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) organised the training course on 'Milk Hygiene Strategy' for developing milk value chain system at Madila Sub-centre under Fulbari upazila of Dinajpur on Wednesday.
Thirty male and female members of different milk producing groups, fodder traders, milk collectors and animal vaccinators of different areas under Betdighee union of Fulbari upazila participated in the daylong training course.
The training course was aimed at providing knowledge on the value chain approach among all stakeholders for boosting production of hygienic milk and facilitating marketing network to ensure fair price for accelerating uplift of the rural people.
With Programme Officer of Fulbari ADP of WVB Badal Sangma in the chair, its Agriculture Officer Arbindo Roy attended the concluding ceremony of the training course as the chief guest.
President of Betdighee Mohona Mohila Samobai Samity Ferdous Zannat attended the ceremony as the special guest.
The speakers stressed for increasing production of more hygienic cow milk and adopting modern techniques in milk collection and preservation maintaining complete cleanliness to avoid rotting of milk for containing full nutritional values.
They said an effective milk value chain system could benefit the consumers, producers as well as traders involved with the whole process of producing and marketing of locally produced hygienic milk.
Due to interference of the middlemen at various stages of business communication process, the producers generally get minimum benefit and consumers spend maximum money in purchasing the locally produced milk, they said.
The chief guest put emphasis on establishing effective value chain system to ensure fair price of the locally produced hygienic milk for the producers through marketing of the same in reaching those to the consumers in a hassle-free manner.
