Eid being observed in Saudi Arabia

Friday, 17 July 2015

Holy Eid-ul-Fitr is being observed in some Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, on Friday as the new crescent moon of Shawal was sighted there on Thursday evening. A reputed Middle Eastern newspaper reported on Friday that the people of Saudi Arabia have been celebrating the Eid on Friday. The moon sighting committee in Saudi Arabia confirmed sighting the moon on Thursday, a ‘Khaleej Times’ report said today. Oman, however, is not celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest festival of the Muslim, on Friday like other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries since the moon of Shawwal month was not sighted there. Muslims celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr after a month of dawn-to-dusk fasting in Ramadan.
