Eid celebrated at some places in 5 dists

Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of Muslims, was celebrated at different places in Satkhira, Jhenidah, Chandpur and Laxmipur districts today (Saturday) in line with the 'schedule of Saudi Arabia', report agencies.
However, the holy Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated in the country on Monday (Oct 6). The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Baitul Mukarram conference room of Islamic Foundation on the evening of September 25 after reviewing information of the Zilhajj moon sighting.
According to reports reaching the UNB news desk, the residents of 40
villages in Chandpur, mostly under Hajiganj and Faridganj upazilas, celebrated the festival following the Muslims in Saudi Arabia.
The festival was also celebrated at some villages in Matlab North, Shahrasti and Kochua upazilas of the district.
Maulana Abu Jafar Md Abdul Hye, the eldest son of renowned Islamic
cleric of Shadra Pak Darber Sharif, late Maulana Md Ishaque, said the main congregation of the Eid-ul-Azha was held at 9.00 am (Saturday) on the premises of Shadra Senior Fazil Madrasah.
A large number of devotees attended the Eid congregation, which was conducted by Abdul Hye's eldest son Maulana Md Arif Chowdhury.
In Chittagong, the disciples of Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif of Satkania and Shah Sufi Darbar Sharif of Chandanaish upazilas of the district elebrated the holy Eid-ul-Azha.
Followers of these two religious centres in Chittagong usually celebrate their Eid-ul-Azha festival in line with Saudi Arabia and other Middle-East Muslim countries.
Several hundred disciples of the two religious centres in 50 villages under Patiya, Chandanaish, Satkania, Anowara, Banshkhali, Sitakunda, Lohagara, Boalkhali and Fatikchari upazilas in Chittagong and some other upazilas in Feni and Chandpur districts celebrated the Eid festival with due religious fervor and festivity.
A total of 56 Eid congregations were held at 50 villages including two big ones at Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif in Satkania and Shah Sufi Darbar Sharif of Elahabad village in Chandanaish this morning.
In Satkhira, Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated at 15 villages in Tala, Kalaroa, Ashashuni, and Sadar upazilas of the district, in conformity with Saudi Arabia schedule.
The Eid congregation was held at Shaheed Abdur Razzak Park Municipality auditorium around 8.00 am. Maulana Maksudur Rahman conducted the Eid jamaat.
In Laxmipur, the Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated at eight villages in three upazilas of the district, following the schedule of Saudi Arabia.
The villages are Noagaon, Joypura, Bigha, Dakkhinpara in Ramganj upazila, Kalakopa in Raipur upazila and Bashikpur, Purbapanch Para and Mahadebpur villages in Sadar upazila.
Besides, eight other congregations were held in other upazilas of the district in the morning.
