Eid festivities begin in Bangladesh

After a month of restraint and reflection, Muslims in Bangladesh began celebrating the Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday morning. The news of the Shawwal moon having been sight brought joy to all on Friday despite sufferings on gruelling journey. Eidgahs and mosques are ready for Eid congregations. President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, opposition leader Raushan Ershad and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia have congratulated Muslims in Bangladesh and elsewhere on Eid-ul-Fitr and called for amity on the occasion. The Eid was celebrated in the Middle-East and in Europe on Friday, according to a news agency.
