Hundreds of thousands will come together for special prayers for Eid-ul-Azha on Monday. The authorities have prepared the congregation sites well ahead of the 2nd biggest religious festivals of the Muslims. Like every year, the main congregation will be held at 8:30am at the National Eidgah (prayer ground) next to the High Court. Members of the Cabinet, High Court and Supreme Court judges, political party leaders, foreign diplomats, businessmen, journalists and the civil society members will gather there along with ordinary citizens. Five Jamaats are scheduled to be held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque with the first starting at 7am. The later congregations will be held at one hour intervals – 8am, 9am, 10am and 11am. Dhaka’s last Eid-ul-Azha congregation will be held at Azimpur Choto Daira Sharif Masjid at 11am. A total 652 Eid congregations will be held in 568 areas in the metropolitan city. Police say that they have done everything to maintain order during prayers. Besides, two Jamaats will be held at Dhaka University, at 8am and 9am, according to a news agency.
