Tuesday, 29 July 2014

Muslims of Bangladesh celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Tuesday after a month of fasting. Men in small groups joined prayers at various Eid congregations of Dhaka city amid a light drizzle in the morning. The main congregation of Eid prayers held at National Eidgah Maidan at 8:30 am was attended by President Md Abdul Hamid, various politicians, diplomats, government officials as well as ordinary citizens of all age. They embraced and greeted each other after Eid prayers ended. The Met Office had forecast rain during Eid, but it could not disrupt the congregation due to appropiate arrangements. The ground was decorated and had high security. Baitul Mukarram, the national mosque, besides the main prayers held five other congregations since 7am. Women devotees were allotted a separate section like before, according to bdnews24.com.
