KHULNA, July 15 (BSS): With only 14 days left for Eid-ul-Fitr, the greatest Muslim religious festival, Eid shopping has started gaining momentum in Khulna amid huge supply of consumer goods and enthusiasm among the people for buying.
All the city markets are seen busy now everyday to sell their commodities to the shoppers.
With the rise in the number of buyers, traffic jam in the city's busy market places, especially at Picture Palace, Dawkbangla, Borobazar and KDA New Market area, have witnessed biggest crowds in recent times.
The buyers, mostly from middle class, are found moving from shop to shop at city's Clay Road's markets asking prices of goods.
Small shops are found more crowded than the big shopping malls. Buyers in larger numbers are crowding the shopping centres.
Most of the rich buyers are crowding KDA New Market and different big shopping centres while the low-income group people are also seen today (Tuesday) purchasing their desired items from the footpath shops in the city.
Muhammad Mamun Hossain, owner of Mamun Cloth Store at Borobazar market, said, "Our store is packed with Eid shoppers. I am pleased for selling well in last few days."
