Eid trip accidents kill 29

At least 29 people were killed in separate road accidents in Chattogram, Manikganj, Sylhet, Naogaon, Keraniganj, Chuadanga, Khulna, Gazipur, Tangail, Cumilla, and Bogura districts during Eid holidays, according to agencies’ report.
In Chattogram, seven people were killed and six others injured as a bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway in Patiya upazila of Chattogram on Monday, said police.
The identities of the deceased couldn't be known immediately.
The accident occurred around 8:00 pm when the bus hit the auto-rickshaw near Bayar Jaluar Dighi on the highway and plunged into a roadside ditch, said Rashedul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Patiya thana.
The accident left five passengers of the auto- rickshaw dead on the spot and eight others injured, he said.
The injured were later rushed to Patiya Health Complex where two of them succumbed to their injuries, the OC added.
In Sylhet, a 10-year-old girl playing on a steel girder bridge in a Sylhet village died after being hit by a speeding bike on Monday, police said on Tuesday.
The dead is Lamisha Akter, daughter of Ahmed and a class V student of Raigarh Government Primary School.
The accident occurred in Girdo village of the district's Golapganj upazila on Monday afternoon.
In Manikganj, three bikers have been killed and three others injured in separate road accidents in Manikganj district.
The dead are Abdullah Al Amin (45), Zubayer (14) and Haji Mia (26) of the district.
In Shibalay upazila, Al Amin's motorcycle crashed into a truck on Dhaka-Paturia highway in the Arpara area around 11:00 am on Monday, leaving him dead on spot, said Zakir Hossain, in-charge of Barangail Highway Police.
In Ghior upazila, a bus hit a motorcycle on Dhaka-Paturia highway near Baniajuri area, leaving Zubayer dead on spot and his friend Tushar injured.
On Sunday night, an unidentified vehicle hit Haji Mia's motorcycle on Singair-Hemayetpur road in the Char Nayadingi area, leaving him dead on spot and his pillion rider injured, said the official.
The injured is undergoing treatment at Upazila Health Complex.
The bodies were sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, the official added.
In Naogaon, a 40-year-old police constable was killed and his wife was injured after a collision between two motorcycles took place in Raninagar upazila on Sunday afternoon.
The dead is Shahin Alam, son of Osman Mollah of Uttar Rajapur village in the upazila.
Confirming the matter, Raninagar thana officer-in-charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad said, the accident occurred around 6:00 pm when Shahin and his wife were going to his sister's house in Bandaikhara on a motorcycle.
When they reached Kujail Bazar area, a speeding motorcycle from the opposite direction hit their bike, leaving the duo critically injured.
They were rushed to Raninagar Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Shahin dead on arrival, added the OC.
His wife Shipon Begum was shifted to NaogaonbSadar Hospital at night as her condition deteriorated.
In Keraniganj, two people killed and three others were injured in a road accident on the Rajendrapur flyover of Keraniganj.
All the deceased were residents of Shariatpur, police said, but were not immediately identified.
The accident occurred on the Rajendrapur flyover of Dhaka-Bhanga Bangabandhu Expressway around 10.30 pm on Saturday night.
Afzal Hossain, in-charge of Hasara Highway Police Outpost, said a Dhaka-bound pickup van, carrying sacrificial cows, lost control and rammed into the highway divider leaving two of its passengers dead on the spot.
In Chuadanga, two persons were killed in two separate road accidents in Chuadanga's Sadar and Damurhuda upazila on Eid day.
In Sadar, an elderly man was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near Zafarpur BGB camp on Sunday morning.
The dead are Faraz Ali (70), son of Khoka Ali of Jafarpur village of the upazila.
The accident occurred around 11:00 am when a vehicle hit Faraz Ali, leaving him injured, said Sanjay Chakraborty, sub-inspector (SI) of Chuadanga Sadar thana.
In another incident, a motorcyclist was killed and his pillion rider suffered injuries after their motorcycle hit a roadside tree at Sarabaria New village in Damurhuda upazila.
The deceased Enamul Haque, 32, was from Sarabaria village of Damurhuda upazila.
AHM Lutful Kabir, officer-in-charge (OC) of Darshana thana, said, the driver of the motorcycle hit a roadside tree after losing control of his bike around 1:00 pm, leaving its driver critically injured.
In Khulna, a 26-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a road crash in Hogladanga main road under Harintana of Khulna Sadar.
The accident occurred on Saturday night, police said.
The deceased was identified as Md Raju, resident of Alimpur village in Rupsha upazila, Emdadul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Harintana thana said.
Meanwhile, as many as 12 people have been killed in separate road accidents in Gazipur, Tangail, Cumilla, Bogura, and Chattogram districts in the past 24 hours, police said on Saturday.
