Holy Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on October 6 (Monday) as the moon of Holy Jilhajj month was not sighted in the skies of Bangladesh on Thursday. The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee, held in the city on Thursday evening. The members of the committee sat at Islamic Foundation in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Complex to review the reports about sighting of the new crescent moon of Jilhajj, the 12th month in the Arabic calendar, to ascertain the date of Eid-ul-Azha. The meeting began at 6:45pm, presided over by Principal Matiur Rahman, the Religious Affairs Minister and also the chairman of the Committee, according to private TV channels.
