Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated

Millions of Muslims in the country Sunday prayed for the nation's peace and progress and unity of the Muslim ummah as the holy Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with enthusiasm and religious fervour and pledge to establish a corruption-free democratic society, reports UNB.
Main feature of the festival was the Eid congregations, where the rich and the poor, irrespective of their social status, embraced each other demonstrating the fraternity among the Muslims.
Men, women and children attired in their best greeted each other saying 'Eid Mubarak'.
Friends and relatives visited each other's houses, exchanged greetings and shared rich diet after a month-long fasting.
Morning rain and drizzle marred Eid congregations at different places.
In capital Dhaka, the main Eid congregation was held at the National Eidgah at 8:30am.
President Iajuddin Ahmed, Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed, Speaker Zamir Uddin Sircar, Deputy Speaker Akhtar Hamid Siddiqui and City Mayor Sadek Hossain Khoka, among others, offered prayers at the National Eidgah.
