Eight coaches of Meghna Express derail, 50 injured

CHANDPUR, July 20 (UNB): At least 50 passengers were injured as eight coaches of Meghna Inter-city Express train derailed near Shaharasti station here Friday night.
Railway officials said the eight coaches of the Chandpur-bound train, carrying about 500 passengers in 14 compartments from Chittagong, derailed at about 10:00 pm near the station due to a broken sleeper.
The passengers were injured as they scrambled to get out of the coaches due to panic, railway guard Abu Taher said.
Later, all the passengers were bundled into the remaining six coaches and the train reached Chandpur at about 12:30 am.
