Eight doped, hospitalised in Ctg

CHITTAGONG, Nov 15: Eight persons including a cattle trader were left unconscious and sent to the hospital after taking food made by their cook.
The police suspect that the cook was a member of the Augyan Party now very active in the city.
The doped persons are Hasmat Ali 60, Solaiman (40), Abdus Samad (45), Helal (35), Mannan (40), Abdullah (50), Shahjalal (45) and Abdul Khalek (55). Hasmat is a cattle trader while others are his employees. They are all from Jamalpur district, police said.
Pahartali police said they got unconscious after taking food on Sunday night in the Sagorika cattle market. As they did not wake up in the Monday morning the members of the market committee apprehended they were doped up drugs by the cook they recruited in a bid to take off their sale proceeds.
The market committee men got them admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in the morning. At least four members of such miscreants have been arrested from different parts of the city in the last one week, police said.
