‘Eight hospitals being built in eight divs’

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said eight 15-storey hospitals for the treatment of cancer, kidney and liver are being constructed in each of the eight divisions of the country, which will reduce people's out-of-pocket expenditure on healthcare, reports UNB.
The minister disclosed this while speaking at an event organised by the Health Economics Unit of the Health Services Department at a city hotel on Sunday.
The discussion event was focused on out-of-pocket expenditure on healthcare.
He said such expenses have been increasing for non-communicable diseases like cancer, heart and kidney diseases. Many families become almost destitute due to these diseases that account for the highest number of deaths in the country every year.
