Thursday, 4 June 2015

NILPHAMARI, Jun 3 (UNB): The bodies of eight newborns were found wrapped in a polythene bag floating on the Teesta River in Dimla upazila on Tuesday. Officer-in-charge of Dimla Police Station Abdul Ali Akand said locals spotted the big polythene bag at the Kawnia Char point of the river in the morning and informed them. Later, the law enforcers rushed in and recovered the bodies from the bag around 11:30am, he said. Each body was wrapped in a small poly bag and the eight bodies thus were stashed in the big bag, the OC added. Akand said the bodies might have been dumped into the river from a hospital either in Bangladesh or in India.
