Eight Shibir men held in Bogra

Police arrested eight activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, including its Azizul Haque College unit president, from Satmatha of Bogra town on Saturday morning. The arrestees are: Shamiul Islam, President of Azizul Haque College unit of Shibir and its activists Mushfiqur Rahman, Kayes Uddin, Abdul Matin, Shariful Islam, Ujjwal Hossain, Shah Alam and Rezaul Karim. Witnesses said about 50 activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, took out a procession from Satmatha around 8:00am as part of their central programme. When they reached in front of Bogra Press Club, police chased off them dispersing the procession and a clash ensued. The Shibir men hurled three cocktails on the police. At one stage, the law enforcers fired 7 rubber bullets to disperse them. Later, the 8 Shibir men were held in connection with the clash, according to a news agency.
