Elaborate programmes to celebrate Pahela Baishakh in Netrakona

NETRAKONA, Apr 12 (BSS): An elaborate programme has been designed here to celebrate Pahela Baishak, the first day of the Bangla new year 1421, on April 14.
A meeting organised by district administration was held at the conference room of DC office of the district on Sunday in this regard.
Chaired by Deputy Director of Local Government Department Lutfur Rahman, the meeting was address, among others, by additional deputy commissioner (general) Abdullah-AL-Mamun, deputy collector Netrakona Mintu Chowdhury, freedom fighter Mohammad Shamsuzzuha, president of district bar association advocate Shahnewaz Fakir and general secretary of district Shilpakala Academy Sanwar Hussain Bhuiyan.
The programme will be formally started with a colorful ceremony of welcoming Pahela Baishakh which popularly known as "Borshaboron with Rakhibondon" at Mukto-Moncha on local Mukterpara ground here in the morning.
The other programmes of the day include bringing out of a colorful rally, holding of a two-day long Baishakhi Mela, sports competitions, poetry recitation, discussion, cultural shows and musical soirees.
Talking to the BSS correspondent, deputy commissioner Dr Abul Kalam said tight security measures have been taken here for peaceful holding of the first day of Bangla New year.
