Elderly man shot dead in city

Assailants shot dead an elderly man at Modhubagh in the city's Dakshin Khan area early Saturday. The victim was identified as Abu Bakar Siddique (96). Ataur Rahman, the victim's grandson, said the assailants entered the house of Abu Bakar at about 1:30am when he was asleep. They fired 5/6 bullets on him and fled the scene. Abu Baker was rushed to the Bangladesh Medical Hospital at Uttara and then shifted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead at about 3:00am.— UNB
