Elderly widow killed in city

FE Report
An elderly widow was brutally beaten to death by unknown assailants at her house at Dhanmondi in the city early Friday, police said.
Being informed by locals, police recovered the body from the house at about 3:30pm and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The sterile, Sajeda Amin (70), wife of late Dr Taher Amin, had been living alone in the house at 75, Central Road for more than one decade after the death of her physician husband in 1997, locals said.
Even no relatives were seen in visiting the house since the death of Sajeda's husband much to the surprise of the nearby residents, one of the neighbours said adding, "She was taken care by a 25-year-old Enamul."
But Enamul is on the run soon after the killing. Police drives are on to arrest the young man. "If the housemaid is arrested, the mystery behind the killing will be crystal clear," Wahiduzzaman, Investigation Officer (IO) of the killing and also an inspector of Dhanmondi police station, told the FE.
The IO said some outsiders in connivance with the house servant entered the house and brutally killed the old lady during the Sehri time as the law enforcers found blood at the dining table decorated with cooked foods. "The culprits killed her after tying her hands and legs," he added.
The police inspector initially suspected that the killers might have murdered Sajeza, who had also been suffering from various health complications, including diabetes, to take possession of her valuable assets.
The killers took away some gold ornaments and cash money from an almirah before their safe departure. But the police could not say the exact figure of the looted items.
