Election of Dhaka Sangbadik Paribar Samity held

The election of Dhaka Sangbadik Paribar Bahumukhi Samobaya Samity, a welfare organisation of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), was held at DUJ office in the city Tuesday, reports BSS.
A three-member election commission headed by former DUJ president Omar Faruque conducted the election. Other members of the commission were Dhaka Reporters' Unity President Shahed Chowdhury and former DUJ joint secretary Johorlal Chandra Das.
Senior journalist of The Daily Sun Tarun Tapan Chakrborty was elected president of the Samity in the triennial election while Khandaker Ataul Huq, editor of The Daily Alor Michhil, and freelance journalist Rajendra Dev Mantu were elected secretary and treasurer respectively.
Besides, the uncontested office- bearers of the samity are Auhiduzzaman Miah-vice president, a senior journalist of BSS, Rafique Ahmed-joint secretary, a senior journalist of Amader Aurthanity and publicity secretary of DUJ, directors- Sanat Nandi of The Daily Khabar, M Zahirul Islam of The Bangladesh Protidin, M Kamal Uddin of The Kalerkantha, M Rafiqul Islam of The Desh Bangla, Golam Nabi of the weekly Robbar and Enamul Huq Babul of BSS.
All the founder members of the Samity including former DUJ president Shah Alamgir were present during the voting and cast their votes.
