Election will be held in joyous environment, hopes adviser

Education Adviser Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman Sunday expressed the hope that today's ninth parliamentary election would be held in a joyous manner with the exercise of voting rights of the people of all walks of life, reports BSS.
"Political parties have played a responsible role in bringing about a qualitative change in the politics," he told reporters in the Education Ministry's conference room.
Dr Zillur pointed out that the ending of the countrywide election campaign carried out by the political parties through a responsible way would help move the country towards transition to democracy.
Victory and defeat is universal, he said adding the holding of today's ninth parliamentary election is a victory of the people's hopes and aspirations.
He said the political parties' election campaign abiding by the electoral code of conduct and free from violence are the achievements of the government.
"The people want to see effective democratic governance and that is why we are moving forward step-by-step in this regard," said the Education Adviser.
Zillur expressed the hope that handing over the power to the elected government would be a smooth one. Regarding legalities of the ordinances promulgated by the government, he said the next government would look into it.
About the planned dialogue with the major political parties, the adviser said, ''The contract is on and it will be done in time."
