Elections to JS reserved seats April 3

The election to 50 parliamentary seats, set aside exclusively for women, will be held on April 3 instead of March 29, said the Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday. According to the reschedule, the deadline for the submission of nomination papers is March 9, while that for the scrutiny of nomination papers March 11 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature March 18. Earlier, on Sunday, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC)  Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad announced the election schedule for the 50 parliamentary seats fixing the voting date for March 29. Out of the 50 seats, the ruling Awami League-led six-party alliance will contest the polls in 41 seats, while Jatiya Party in six and the coalition of independent candidates in three seats, according to a news agency.
