Electricity consumption by water pumps
Tuesday, 25 March 2014
The recent price hike of electricity continues to raise debates along with agitation as the increased power tariff is questionable. The prime minister spoke in favour of power tariff hike and she advised all to restrict consumption of electricity. As a resident of Rashed Khan Menon Sarak, I am to say that Dhaka WASA water supply in certain areas is just not adequate, especially in Eskaton, resulting in immense hardship. Many households collect DWASA water from former passport office compound, now Opsonin sales office. Many residents are to collect DWASA water through suction pumps that consume additional electricity.
In the event DWASA supplies enough water, consumers are not required to use suction pumps consuming electricity. Large apartments have got their own deep tube-wells within the buildings. The authority should look into it seriously.
