Elimination of disparity needed for dev: Speaker

Sunday, 1 June 2014

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Sunday viewed that the issue of eliminating disparity between rich and poor should be prioritised for achieving overall development of the country. She said it’s not possible to ensure the country’s overall development only by eliminating poverty. Dr Chaudhury was addressing the Banquet Session of the 27th annual convention of Lions Club International Multiple District-315, Bangladesh as the chief guest at a city hotel. The Speaker said all including Lions will have to be more enthusiastic for taking forward the society’s disadvantaged people including women and children. Inequalities will have to be removed for the development of the society. No sort of discrepancy should be expected, she said, according to a news agency.
