Emirates Airline showcased its new, double-decker Airbus A380 in San Francisco and Los Angeles over the last two days as part of a number of exclusive tours of the aircraft that were planned for the United States, says a press release.
Each city offered a two-hour flight, hosted by Emirates, San Francisco and Los Angeles International Airports following the inaugural launch of the aircraft from Dubai to New York's JFK Airport recently.
Emirates Executive Vice President of Engineering and Operations Adel Al Redha said, "We are very confident these flights are a symbol of a strong future relationship between Emirates and the state of California and we are very appreciative of the support we receive from our many friends here at local, state and federal levels."
The events offered guests an opportunity to tour the aircraft which features 489 seats in a three class configuration (14 first class seats, 76 business class seats and 399 economy class seats).
Guests also enjoyed Emirates' award-winning on-board amenities including the airline's new shower spas and onboard lounges, as well as premier service aboard the airline industry's most fuel efficient aircraft.
Powered by American aircraft engine maker Engine Alliance's GP7200 engines, Emirates' A380s can fly up to 7,456 miles on a full load, has 13 tonnes of bellyhold capacity for cargo and is able to offer better fuel economy per passenger mile than most hybrid passenger cars. The A380 is also quieter, both inside and outside of the cabin, which means more comfort for passengers.
