Employment Bank to disburse Tk 1.01b in current fiscal

Karmasangsthan (Employment) Bank has targeted to disburse Tk 1.01 billion (101 crore) during the current fiscal year (2007-2008).
It was revealed at the Branch Managers' Conference 2007 at the BIAM Foundation in the city Saturday.
Chairman of the bank Sirajul Islam was present on the occasion as the chief guest.
Managing Director Dewan Mujibur Rahman presided over the meeting. Directors of the board of directors -- NGO Affairs Bureau Director General Md Alimusshan, Department of Youth Development Director General Md Ismail Hossain and Bangladesh Bank Executive Director KM Jamshed uz Zaman -- also spoke on the occasion.
Since its inception, the bank has disbursed Tk 3.50 billion among 101,499 borrowers for establishing poultry, fisheries, dairy, nursery and agro-based projects, and small trading and created jobs for approximately 1,38,298 persons.
The bank has also recovered Tk 2.51 billion, which is 82 per cent of the recoverable amount.
