Enam Ahmed Chaudhury, who was adviser to BNP chief Khaleda Zia, has switched sides to join the Awami League, reports bdnews24.com.
Chaudhury met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and greeted her with a bouquet of flowers on Wednesday night, said Ashraful Alam Khokon, deputy press secretary to the prime minister.
He stressed the faith he has in her leadership, Khokon told the news agency.
A former bureaucrat, Chaudhury was hoping to get nomination from the BNP to run for Sylhet-1 parliamentary seat. He was named in the primary list of BNP nominees, but was later left out.
