\\\'Enclave people find Bangladesh better place to live in\\\'

Discussants at the BBC Sanglap has observed that a majority of enclave dwellers opted to remain in Bangladesh although they had chance to move to India as Bangladesh is now a better place to live in for its socioeconomic progression. They came up with the remarks at the 123rd episode of the BBC Bangla Sanglap held at TCB auditorium in the city’s Karwanbazar area. Food Minister Qamrul Islam, BNP standing committee member ASM Hannan Shah, Dhaka University teacher Prof Sadeka Halim and former president of a faction of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Ruhul Amin Gazi took part in the discussion as panelists. The enclave dwellers decided to live in Bangladesh considering its environment, social safety, financial condition and other facilities, claimed Food Minister Qamrul Islam. He also said those who have chosen to live in Bangladesh will be able to enjoy their full freedom shortly as the government will take steps as soon as possible. Hailing the government for implementing the historic Land Boundary Agreement between India and Bangladesh, Hannan Shah also said Bangladesh is now a better place to live in. The people who opted for becoming Bangladesh nationals will enjoy full independence, he said. Former BFUJ president Ruhul Amin said the enclave dwellers took the decision to live in Bangladesh estimating that they would enjoy better geographical independence. Prof Sadeka Halim said many of the enclave dwellers got mixed with Bangladeshi people long ago, and they have become part of the economy and society of Bangladesh. She also noted that those who want to leave Bangladesh they did it as they lost their last piece of land due to river erosion. If they move to India, there is a chance for them to get a permanent land to live in, she added, according to a news agency.
