Enclave people get citizenship from July 31 midnight

Rangpur Division Commissioner Dilwar Bakhat said that Bangladesh will start awarding citizenship to 41,449 people in 111 enclaves from July 31 midnight. People of 111 the country’s enclaves will be getting Bangladesh’s citizenship according to their wishes, he stated while answering to a question by a reporter at a media briefing at Rangpur Divisional Commissioner’s Office. He informed that a total of 979 enclave dwellers out of 41,449 from 111 enclaves in Bangladesh have expressed their willingness to go to India. The Rangpur divisional commissioner said there were 37,364 enclave people in the 111 enclaves in 2011. The number has increased to 41,449 in 2015. Among them, 433 enclave dwellers died during the period. The land area of those enclaves is 17,000 acres, he informed. While answering to another question, the commissioner said the enclave people will get their fundamental rights including education and medical treatment. According to him, a police outpost will also be setup in the larger enclaves. A special security measures will also be taken in sending the India-bound people through Burimari, Haldibari and Sahebganj frontiers, according to a news agency.
