Encouraging use of solar power

It is just a matter of time for renewable energy like the solar power to take over the fossil fuels (oil, gas, coal) as dominant sources of power. So, it will be wise if we start considering turning our residential homes into ones amenable to an off-grid electrification mode. An off-grid home basically generates its own electricity, not relying on the national power grid. Given the current power tariffs, this could offer a sustainable solution. The authorities concerned should encourage homeowners to plug into solar power and store it in battery banks.
Renewable energy is the only way forward for us. And as Bangladesh gets enough sunshine-days annually, this should not be a problem. What is required is a little more push from the government so that high efficiency batteries could be procured at reduced prices and photovoltaic cells could be manufactured locally. We all should be proactive and shift to more sustainable solutions for the sake of our environment.
