Enforcement of law to stop rape
Sunday, 4 October 2020
No matter what statistics say, incidents of rape showing cruelty and barbarism have apparently increased in recent times. Despite massive social awareness, media reports, and, of course, punishment of some rapists, such incidents are taking place. As it is evident, such crimes are committed by those who are somehow powerful in society.
The state, social leaders and political thinkers need to think and identify the causes of rape and immediately take remedial measures to help bring up a generation in a civilized manner. In fact, it is important that possible perpetrators feel that punishment is awaiting them if they commit any crimes. Any vulnerable group in society should also be assured of justice and protection in case they are attacked
In some cases, justice is delayed. We see people raising a hue and cry once an incident takes place, but the attention is soon diverted from it when there is another occurrence. Social and rights activists and the government's legal and enforcement authorities should take proper follow-up steps so that people in general are compliant with laws. When the country's literacy rate has increased and many people love to raise their voice against any injustice, one wonders why crimes like rape should increase.
