An engine failure has left the Meghna Express stuck at Chandpur Railway Station for six hours, causing significant inconvenience to over 300 passengers heading to Chattogram,, reports bdnews24.com.
The disruption occurs on Saturday after the train fails to depart as scheduled from Chandpur at 05:00 am because of a compressor fault in the engine, Shoeb Sikder, assistant station master, said.
Passengers experienced extreme discomfort during the delay, particularly women, children and elderly travellers.
Habib and Alamgir, both identified by single names, said they arrived at the station with their families for the early morning journey and had to wait for hours in the cold.
Another passenger, who also gave a single name as Mohsin, urged the railway authorities to take swift action to reduce frequent mechanical faults in trains.
Shoeb said the train resumed its journey at 11:10 am after an alternative engine from Laksam was installed.
