England's strength and the luck of US
Tuesday, 15 June 2010
England's strength and the luck of US made a 1-1 tie on Saturday's World Cup.
England scored early, within first five minutes, by its midfielder Steven Gerrard against the U.S.
It was unbelievable that English goalkeeper Robert Green would fail to save a goal from a left-footed soft shot of Clint Dempsey, the U.S. midfielder, from about 20 yards. The ball bounced off Green's hands twice and crossed the goal line. Green tried to crawl to stop the ball but in vain. This happened just before the first-half break.
In 2006 World Cup, Dempsey scored a World Cup goal against Ghana in the group stage in Germany.
English striker Wayne Rooney, who is considered one of the best strikers in the world, played very well. The U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard, who made seven brilliant saves, can be considered "the player of the game". Otherwise, the result would have been different.
