Engr Rashid to replace CDA chairman Salam

CHITTAGONG, Mar 29: The government has appointed an engineer as chairman of CDA instead of extending tenure of Awami League leader Abdus Salam. Sources confirmed that Engr Rashid Ahmed Chowdhury, currently vice president of Chittagong Chapter of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) has been selected for the vital post. CDA officials confirmed the news but declined to give details about it. Engineer Rashid said he has been informed about his appointment but he is yet to receive any letters. CDA is responsible for undertaking development projects for Chittagong, which has the country's major seaport that handles country's 90 per cent export and import. Mr Salam was appointed Chairman of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) by the government for two years on April 29, 2009.
