Chairman of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Md Ziaul Haque Khondker has asked the cost and management accountants (CMAs) to increase their professional skill and ethical standard.
He made the call when a delegation of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) headed by its President ABM Shamsuddin called on the SEC chief at his office in the city Tuesday.The ICMAB president apprised the SEC chairman of the role of CMAs and their contribution towards the establishment of transparency, accountability and corporate governance in the business and industrial sectors of the country.
He also informed him of the introduction of cost audit in 64 industries in pharmaceutical, textile and nationalised fertiliser sectors recently.
He said the industrial sector of the country would be benefited through cost audit, according to a press release.
He sought active guidance and support of the SEC chairman for development of CMA profession and institute.
The SEC chairman appreciated the increased role of CMAs for the establishment of good governance, transparency, accountability and financial discipline in the business and industrial sectors of the country.
