Ensure interest-free bank loan for disabled

RAJSHAHI, Mar 27 (BSS): Speakers at a meeting here Friday underlined the need for ensuring interest-free bank loans for the disabled people to help their income generating activities.
They suggested a sound and friendly atmosphere for the disadvantaged persons to ensure a dignified position for them in society.
The under-privileged community is an integral part of our society and we must give them an opportunity to enjoy all basic rights like other privileged sections, they said. The meeting on "Role of Commercial Banks in Socio-economic Development of Disabled Persons" was arranged by Action on Disability and Development (ADD) here.
General Manager of Bangladesh Bank Md Shahjahan addressed the opening session as the chief guest with Convener of Badhan Protibandhi Sangstha Shamsul Alam in the chair. ADD Area Coordinator Sarker Helaluzzaman as the main discussant described his organization's activities.
Deputy General Manager of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank Anwar Hossain, Senior Officer of Sonali Bank Abu Khaled Ibrahim, Principal Officer of Janata Bank Rabiul Hassan, Deputy Director of Social Service Department Hamida Begum and President of Disabled Legal Empowerment Committee Advocate Mizanul Islam took part in the discussion.
