Ensure quality edn with less tuition fees

President M Zillur Rahman Monday asked the country's private universities to ensure quality education with less tuition fees for paving the way for access to higher education to the poor students, reports BSS.
The president made the remark while a three- member delegation of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB) led by its secretary general Dr M Alimulla Mian called on him at the Bangabhaban in the city.
The president also asked the private universities to give more emphasis on research works through formulating an upgraded and time befitting curriculum for keeping pace with international standard of higher education.
Zillur Rahman also said the private universities must provide adequate facilities and modern infrastructure for its students as well as teachers for ensuring quality education.
The president laid emphasis on establishing more private universities outside the capital with a view to creating more opportunities of higher education for rural students across the country.
The APUB delegation apprised the president that presently some 2,15,000 students are studying at 54 private universities across the country.
The delegation members drew attention of the president about various existing problems of the private universities.
President M Zillur Rahman assured the delegation of his all-out support and cooperation for ensuring quality higher education at the private universities. Concerned secretaries to the president's office were present at the meeting.
