Ensure safety of amusement-park rides

Friday, 6 May 2022

Amusement parks in and around Dhaka city have been witnessing huge crowds every day after two years of restricted Eid celebrations caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The lure of amusement and theme parks is hard to ignore. However, notwithstanding their attractions, amusement parks are also not without dangers that can lead to injury and even death. Most of these parks have rides for entertainment purposes. Although some of them are harmless, quite a few are very dangerous. These parks have rides like Ferries Wheel and Roller Coaster, which can cause accidents and fatalities if required guidelines are not followed. Recently on the Eid day, a 12-year-old boy died from his fall from a roller coaster at an amusement park in Kadamtali, Dhaka.
Visitors should be mindful of all ride rules to protect themselves from the dangers that are associated with them. Moreover, the ride operators must be conscious of making people abide by the guidelines. The death of that boy should make us remember that while enjoying, one must not forget that 'safety comes first'.
