Ensuring rights of girl children for physical, mental dev stressed

RAJSHAHI, Oct 10 (BSS): Speakers at a human chain laid emphasis on ensuring fundamental rights of girl children for both their physical and mental development.
The children should be protected from all sorts of violence and oppression so that they could build themselves competent to serve the nation successfully, they said.
Child Daughters’, Adv-ocacy Forum organised the human chain at Shaheb Bazar crossing in the city Saturday in observance of the National Child Daughters' Day-2010.
The Hunger Project Bangladesh supported the programme.
Terming the girl children as the future mother of the nation, the speakers called for ensuring equal rights for flourishing their latent intelligence as they constituted one fifth of the country's total population.
Apart from this, they stressed the need for ensuring safety and security of girl children and stopping early marriage in the greater national interest.
Jaituna Khatun, the district unit president of the Forum presided over the programme, while General Secretary Rozety Naznin, Professor of Rajshahi University, ANM Saleh, social worker Mozammel Haque, Jatiya Mohila Parishad local unit secretary Kolpona Roy and area coordinator of Hunger Project Subrata Kumar Paul were present, among others, on the occasion.
