Environment Day preparatory meet held in Faridpur

FARIDPUR, May 19 (BSS): A preparatory meeting to observe the National Environment Day on June 5 was held in the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC) here today.
The meeting approved the programme of the day. The programme included holding of rally, art and painting competition among juveniles and discussion meeting.
Faridpur Shishu Academy will conduct the art and painting competition.
The meeting resolved that the rally participants will be given a tree sapling each on this day to create awareness about conserving the environment by planting trees.
It was decided that primary schools located in the Charland including North Channel and Decreer Char unions will be supplied saplings through District Primary Education Officer for bringing ecological balance in the area.
The meeting asked the pourashava authorities to remove the bill boards, signboards and other advertizing boards fixed by nails with the trees within the town to make it clean urban area before June 5.
The meeting was told that the district forest department has already taken up three kilometers afforestation program by the side of roads of Charland on the bank of river Padma.
The meeting was presided over by ADC(Gen) Mina Masuduzzaman while deputy director of environment Md. Fazlul Haque, Nursery Association President and Jatiya Sramik League President Akkas Hossain Mia spoke.
