Environmentalists will form human-chains and organise processions across the country and submit memorandums to the district administrations concerned Wednesday in an effort to make the domestic rivers grabbing and pollution-free and also to protect the international rivers.
They will join hands on June 3 across the country including the capital city to save the country's dying rivers from pollution, just two days ahead of the World Environment Day, which will be observed across the globe on June 5.
This was disclosed at a press conference organised by Paribesh Banchao Andolon (PABA), a group of environmentalists, in association with Jonoudyog, IED, BNPS, Unnayandhara Trust and CLNB at the Dhaka Reporters Unity in the city Sunday.
Speakers at the press conference demanded formation of a high-powered committee to identify river problems and resolve them through an action plan.
They favoured forming of a national committee comprising experts to resolve multiparty problems such as Tipaimukh Dam as all of the 57 international rivers flowing through Bangladesh have originated from outside.
