Envisioning stage of worldwide dialogue

The 7th Jahangirnagar Model United Nations Conference 2023 (JMUN'23) officially began on September 28, 2023, organised by JUMUNA. The event started at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Youth Development and later moved to Jahangirnagar University Campus in Savar, Dhaka. Since 2015, the Jahangirnagar Model United Nations Association (JUMUNA) bears a rich history. The eagerly awaited MUN conference held from September 28 to 30, 2023, with students from national and international backgrounds participating. JMUN'23 focused on the theme 'Prioritising Green Technology: Conquering Green Prosperity' to address the world's pressing challenges.
The forum showcased a distinguished assembly of nine committees, carefully designed to stimulate dynamic and engaging discussions. Delegates, possessing a passion for diligent research, diplomatic finesse, and a skill for astute negotiations, were warmly invited to participate. The opening plenary session was led by Robi Shankar Paul Rothi, the plenary president and former vice president of JUMUNA, adding significant weight to the event. The special presence of Anahita Ahmed, Public Information Officer at the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) and Head of Communications, the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh, added a touch of prestige to the inauguration ceremony. Dr Abdullah Hel Kafi, professor of International Relations at Jahangirnagar University, brought a wealth of knowledge and deep understanding to the event with his expertise in the subject.
At the opening speech, the Secretary General of JMUN'23, SK Amlan Ahmed Prachurjjo briefly thanked all and said, "Let us approach this conference with open minds, respect for diverse perspectives, and a shared commitment to finding solutions. I have no doubt that JMUN'23 will be a testament to the power of collaboration and diplomacy". JMUN'23 stood as a beacon of hope and opportunity, aimed at shaping the future leaders' minds and making a positive impact on the global future. The event welcomed more than 320 delegates and 27 experienced individuals from the MUN community, including representatives from more than 26 institutions in Bangladesh. Then, afterward, the committee sessions of nine esteemed UN-recognised committees were held at the premises of Jahangirnagar University with the participation of the delegates and attendees for three days.
And, finally, on September 30, the concluding of the 7th iteration of the Jahangirnagar University Model United Nations (JMUN'23) Conference was held. The event left a profound imprint, emphasising innovative solutions and a rejuvenated dedication to environmental sustainability at the Savar Golf Club. In the closing session of the JMUN'23 Conference, Md Tazul Islam, minister of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives, shared important thoughts that matched the conference's focus on using eco-friendly technology for long-term success
Dr Md Moniruzzaman, former national information officer and Head of UNIC, enriched the discourse as a special guest, further enhancing the dialogue on global issues. Musfika Sultana, the closing plenary president, contributed her distinct perspective, offering invaluable insights and reflections on the deliberations that unfolded throughout the conference. As guest of honour, in the closing plenary session, there were Md Riyajul Karim, founder and president of the Council of Trustees, JUMUMA, and Sukranul Haqur Mahir, former president of JUMUNA.
Dhaka University Model United Nations Association - DUMUNA won the title of the Best Delegation Award and it was a source of immense gratification that, even though JMUN'23 has drawn to a close, its legacy endures through the ideas, connections, and resolutions it has catalysed. At the end of the closing ceremony, the Secretary General of JMUN'23, SK Amlan Ahmed Prachurjjo conveyed gratitude and remarked, "The conference would not have been a massive success if not for the collaborative efforts of all the people involved in the procedure day and night."
