The Envoy Group, a leading apparel (RMG) manufacturer will resume its production from December 5 after being damaged by rampaging demonstrators.
"The damages were worth about Tk 30 million which includes machineries, exportable products, furniture and so on," Monjur Murshed manager (Administration) of Envoy Group said.
The administration office, sixth and seventh floors of the complex were severely damaged including more than 100 sewing machineries, he explained.
The workers and outsiders snatched cash Tk 50,000 and 15,000 pieces of jacket during the demonstration on November 26, he claimed.
The demonstration was prompted by disagreement with workers over granting of Eid holidays.
"The workers went on the rampage as they demanded an eight day Eid vacation," BGMEA president Abdus Salam Murshedi, who owns Envoy Group, told the FE over phone.
"There is no salary or bonuses unpaid. We paid workers all dues until 9.30 pm on November 26," he said.
