EP team holds talks with Khaleda

The visiting European Parliament (EP) delegation met BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday evening and discussed various issues, including Bangladesh’s January 5 national election and its RMG sector. The hour-long meeting that began around 6:30pm was held at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan political office. However, neither BNP nor the EP team briefed reporters about the meeting. A source close to Khaleda Zia said various issues relating to the January 5 national election, Bangladesh’s latest political situation, human rights condition and RMG sector came up for discussions at the meeting. Chairperson of the Delegation for Relations with South Asia Jean Lambert led the EP team to the meeting. Head of Delegation of European Union (EU) to Bangladesh Ambassador William Hanna, BNP vice-chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, BNP chairperson’s advisers Reaz Rahman and Sabihuddin Ahmed were present at the meeting, according to a news agency.
