EPB to distribute trophies among exporters today

Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) will distribute trophies today (Wednesday) among exporters for their outstanding performance in fiscal 2009-10.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to hand over the trophies and certificates to 45 exporters in 21 sectors under three categories.
This year a total of 16 organisations would be awarded gold medals, 18 silver medals and other 11 firms would get bronze decorations.
The trophies will be given to the exporters for their performance in export in the categories of quantity, value addition, entrance to new export destinations, new design and packaging and maintaining quality of the products.
The programme will be organised jointly by EPB and the commerce ministry at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.
Zaber and Zubair Fabrics Ltd will be awarded gold medal for fetching the highest earning from export this year.
The sectors are readymade garments (RMG), knitwear, all kinds of thread, textile fabrics, home and specialised textiles, frozen food, raw jute, jute products, leather, leather products, footwear, agro products, agro processing products, flower-foliage, handmade industrial products, melamine and plastic products, ceramic products, light engineering products, electric and electronic products, other industrial products, medicines, other chemical products, computer software and others.
No organisation could secure gold trophy in six of 21 sectors. There would be no silver trophy in three sectors and no bronze in 10 sectors this year since their index failed to reach the requisite points to get the awards.
"The EPB followed the national export trophy policy 2006 for distributing trophies to the exporters as inspiration," Vice Chairman of EPB Mojibur Rahman Howlader told the FE.
Voluca Trouser Ltd, Envoy Fashion Limited and Refat Garment Ltd won trophies in woven garment sector.
Keya Knit Composite Ltd, GMS Composite Knitting and Industry Ltd and Fakir Knitwear Ltd won prizes in knitwear sector while Nice Cotton Ltd and Labib Dyeing Mills Ltd won prizes in cotton sector, EPB sources said.
Envoy Textile Ltd and Ms Euta Knitting and Dyeing Ltd won prizes in textile and fabrics sector. Zabar and Zabar Fabric Ltd, ACS Textile BD Ltd and Nass Mussa Fabric Ltd won prizes in home textile sector.
Sea Mark BD Ltd, Apex Foods Ltd and Kuliarchar Sea Foods (Cox's Bazar) Ltd won prizes in frozen food sector. Uttara Jute Traders, Raza Jute Traders and FR Jute Trading Co Ltd won prizes in raw jute sector.
Akij Jute Mills Ltd, Karim Jute Spinners Ltd and Janata Jute Mills Ltd won prizes in jute production sector. SAF Industry, Bay Tannery and Apex Tannery Ltd won prizes in crust and finished leather sector.
Picard Bangladesh Ltd won prize in leather goods sector. Leatherex Footwear Industries Ltd and Ms FB Footwear Ltd won prizes in footwear sector. Pran Export Ltd, Pran Foods Limited and Pran Agro Ltd won prizes in agro-possessing sector.
Ms Rajdhani Enterprise won prize in foliage sector and Karu Panya Rangpur Ltd won prize in handicraft sector.
Bengal Plastic Industry Ltd unit-3 won prize in melamine and plastic sector. Bengal Plastic Industry Ltd and Shinepukur Ceramics Ltd won prizes in ceramic sector.
Transworld Bicycle Co Ltd won prize in light engineering sector. Ananda Shipyard & Slipways Ltd won prize in other industrial products sector.
Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd won prizes in pharmaceutical sector. MI Cement Factory Ltd and Ms Meghna Rubber Industry Ltd won prizes in chemicals production sector. Ms Merrin Shifting System and Mon Triems Ltd won prizes in miscellaneous sector.
