SIRAJGANJ, Oct 1 (UNB): Erosion by Jamuna River has taken a serious turn in the district with the recession of floodwater rendering over 1,000 families homeless.
Many people of Chowhali, Belkuchi, Shahzadpur, Kazipur and Sadar upazilas are living a subhuman life as erosion engulfed over 1,000 houses, huge trees and vast tracts of arable land in last few days.
Local Water Development Board said flood situation in the district has improved with the recession of water in the Jamuna but it worsened the situation of erosion at different parts in the five upazilas.
The erosion-affected poor families who are passing their days on the embankments and other places said so far they did not receive any relief materials from the district administration.
