Erosion devours ten Manikganj villages

MANIKGANJ, Jun 3 (BSS): The untimely erosion of the Jamuna River has already devoured the ten villages of Daulatpur upazila of the district and more vast areas of Charkatari, Bachamara, Baghutia, and Khalshi unions of the upazila are on the threat of to be devoured.
Abul Kalam Azad, chairman of Charkatari union parishad, told BSS, about one thousand dwelling houses and huge croplands of ten villages including Kamarpara, Kathaltoli, Charkatari shekh para under his union have been disappeared during the last one month.
Akhtar Hossain, chairman of Baghutia union parishad informed that the erosion of Jamuna has took serious turn and being eroded Basail, Islampur, Rahatpur, Jotkashi, Ghosepara villages under his union.
Abdur Rashid Sarkar, chairman of Charkatari Union, said about one hundred houses and vast areas of cropland have been disappeared in the river Jamuna.
