Errors mar RU entry test

Error-filled question papers were distributed on Thursday among candidates taking tests for admission to Rajshahi University’s arts faculty for the academic year 2013-14. The candidates spotted six wrong questions among the 103 given to those with uneven role numbers for A-unit exams held on Thursday. The errors enraged the candidates. The question set given to the candidates who sat for exams at 11am yesterday were said to be error-free. Part-B (Kha) of the question-set given to students sitting for exam at 9 am had rampant repetitions, a candidate alleged. The questions listed between 55 and 60 were already there as questions numbers: 31, 32, 33, 35, and 45. Therefore, candidates answering this set had to write six questions twice. “This exam was scheduled in November, but it is being held in January,” said one candidate, seeking anonymity. “How can a public university make such terrible mistakes while testing candidates?” he asked. Those who took error-filled question exam are demanding that the questions be scrapped and the admission test be held again. Art’s faculty Dean Abdul Hye Talukder said “We could not act instantly after receiving the complaints. A decision will be taken after holding a meeting with the exam moderator and other relevant persons,” he added. Vice-chancellor Mizanuddiun said “The matter is regrettable. The faculty’s dean has been asked to make sure that students don’t suffer,” according to bdnews24.com.
