Ershad appears before court

Former president and Jatiya Party chief Hussein Muhammad Ershad on Wednesday appeared before a special court to depose in Major General Abul Manzur murder case, filed with a Chittagong police station about 19 years ago. One of the accused in Manzur murder case, Ershad went to the First Additional District and Sessions Judge's Court, set up near Dhaka Central Jail in Old town, at about 11:00am. Judge Hosney Ara Akter heard the closing arguments in the case till 11:45am. Manzur was reportedly killed in Chittagong Cantonment area on June 1, 1981. About 14 years after the incident, his elder brother Abul Mansur Ahmed filed a murder case with Panchlaish Police Station in the port city on Feb 28 in 1995., according to a news agency.
